Moving to a new country is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming — especially if you’re an international student in Groningen. Adapting to a new culture, building a routine, managing studies, and making new friends can sometimes feel like a lot. Homesickness, stress, and the challenges of student life are very common experiences, and you don’t have to navigate them alone.
As a licensed psychologist and former student in Groningen, I understand how it feels to start a new life in a foreign city. You may miss home, feel out of place, or wonder if you’ll ever fully settle in. That’s why I’m starting a therapeutic support group for international students in Groningen, designed to help you cope, connect, and thrive.
Why Join a Support Group for Groningen Students?
Group support provides a unique opportunity for international students to:
Share experiences and feel understood
Discuss homesickness and strategies to cope with it
Learn stress management techniques for student life in Groningen
Build routines that support your academic and personal wellbeing
Connect with other international students who are going through similar experiences
Unlike individual therapy, group sessions create a sense of community. You’ll hear different perspectives, share your own, and realize you’re not alone in your struggles. The shared space encourages understanding, empathy, and resilience — essential skills for adapting to life as a student.
